Celebrity Facial Worth the Splurge
As each month goes by, it seems like there is always a new fad, whether it be in fitness or beauty, there is always something new! It can be hard to know what actually is worth your time, so I love trying it all for myself to determine what is worth it and what isn’t.
A recent fad is cryotherapy. If you haven’t already tried it, I am here to tell you that you are missing out! This is a “fad” that is worth it. Cryotherapy is a freezing mechanism that is said to burn fat, tighten skin and rejuvenate the body. While I love it for the body, I must admit that I was a bit skeptical when it came to the cryofacial where freezing air is used on the face. My good friend and well-known blogger Tina Craig of @bagsnob is the queen of facial treatments and, candidly, her skin is #goals, so when she mentioned the incredible effects of the cryofacial, I knew I had to give it a shot!
Tina put in a call to the celebrity facialist Joanna Czech who has treatment boutiques in both New York and Dallas. Joanna has spent her career grooming some of the most well-known faces in the country including Vogue’s Anna Wintour for over two decades. Normally, her waitlist is months long, but I was able to squeeze into her busy schedule this week after a last minute cancellation.
Historically, I haven’t been a huge facial fan, but I now realize why. I don’t think I had ever experienced a life-changing facial until Joanna! The facial started with the most incredible face massage, massaging in Biologique Recherche’s Colostrum serum. Joanna then exfoliated my skin with a tool not unlike an electric nail file. Although it sounds scary, it was gentle and felt great! She then used a red LED light plus ultrasound on top of Biologique Recherche’s Extraits Tissulaires serum. The light functions to make the serum penetrate deeper into the skin which helps rejuvenate the cells. I personally recommend SkinInc’s Optimizer Voyage Tri-Light that you can purchase for at-home use. It works well on top of almost any face mask!
Joanna then prepared my face for the cryofacial by blowing the cold on my face on the lowest setting. She then applied the Cryo Energizing Face Serum before turning the Cryo machine all the way up. It was SO COLD! It didn’t take long for me to get brain freeze, but I must admit, in a weird way, it felt nice. She continued freezing my face for about 25 minutes until my face was entirely numb. The mask had cracked from the cold air (check out the photos below – it looks like my skin is peeling off hah!) She used a warm towel to remove the mask and then used Negative Ionization on my face for about 15 minutes. This reinforces the production of collagen which is vital to keeping your skin looking youthful. The facial ended with Joanna massaging La Grande Crème by Biologique Recherche into my face.
The end result: my face truly looks better than ever and it feels like silk! I am truly impressed and would recommend this to anyone! For those of you in NY or TX, you can book an appointment with Joanna here.
