LA Art Party
LA is known for many things like nice weather, eccentric people and celebrities, but it is also known for its over-the-top parties. I find that LA parties are some of the best in the world probably because there are so many unique venue options and the scene and vibe is always hoppin’. Insert Gabe Hirschowitz, a social entrepreneur and art junkie who started COLLECT ART + DO GOOD. Gabe took everything great about LA and combined it into one event: the LA Art Party. The LA Art Party is a combo of the best of local artists with the hippest people in the LA scene coming together to party to benefit UNICEF.
This party was no ordinary party, it included caviar bites, margaritas, a trapeze artist dangling from the top floor of the venue over a pool, a magician and artists painting live. It was hosted in a 4 floor venue in Venice that includes an roof deck that was so packed with people dancing to the DJ that one could barely move through to grab a drink at the bar. I don’t think I have ever been to party with so much to do! The Starling Project team was proud to be there collaborating with the incredible artist Dorothy Shain who was painting custom on our candles. She painted the cutest palm trees reflecting the Venice vibe. I personally bid on a piece, but lost out! All of the art sold within an hour of the doors opening.
Ultimately, the event raised over $100k! It was beyond incredible to see hundreds of people come together to support local artists by purchasing and bidding on the art all to benefit UNICEF, the cause I personally am most passionate about. This party is the proof that you can have too much fun while doing good. That is something my friend Gabe has truly mastered! Congrats Gabe!
