It’s hard to beat spending New Years in Aspen! I’ve been coming to Aspen since I was an infant and have only missed out on 3 Aspen New Years. There is something about it that is magical this time of year (even when there isn’t much snow!)
As you likely know by now, I am a big fan of hosting parties especially with my mom who is the queen of parties! Now that the new Aspen house is finished, we were excited to finally host our friends and family on New Years Eve. It was truly the perfect way to kick off 2018. We enjoyed apps, champagne and catching up for over an hour before being seated for dinner. Dinner was made by the incredible local Aspen Chef March. We had a variety of salads, steak, potatoes, creamy spaghetti squash and brussels followed by the BEST flour-less chocolate cake.
After dinner, we turned the music up and the lights down for a few more cocktails and dancing. Then the Aspen Mountain fireworks show began shortly after we did the countdown to midnight. We are fortunate that we can see the show perfectly from the house. The night ended with each person sharing his or her favorite memories from 2017 and sharing hopes and goals for the new year. There is something so perfect about spending NYE at your own house party with many of your closest friends and family. It couldn’t have been a better way to jump into what I know is going to be another incredible year!
My new years resolution is to give gratitude each day of 2018. If you have not already read Gratitude Diaries by Janice Kaplan, I highly recommend it! There is nothing more rewarding than recognizing all you have to be grateful for.
