The first event of the wedding weekend was a wedding welcome party in the Aspen home I designed for my family. It was a dream come true hosting the first event of the weekend at the home that I worked so hard to build over the past 3+ years in my favorite city in the country!
It was the perfect summer night spent outside on our patio enjoying views of Aspen and catching up with our guests. Entertainment included local pianist Kyle Jones and magician Doc Eason. We served rose all night and dinner included salmon, steak and BBQ (just had to give a little love to my Texans!) Desserts included the Little Nell’s signature blueberry cobbler with their homemade ice cream and strawberry shortcake. We were thrilled that a majority of our guests came in early to help us properly kick off the weekend.
We were lucky to spend a lot of time catching up with people at the welcome party because it meant the following two nights were spent enjoying each other and focusing on the fact that we were getting married! Having our closest friends and family around us all weekend was the most special and uplifting experience. We chose Aspen specifically because we wanted a more intimate wedding weekend and it was important to us to share our favorite place with all of our closest friends. Aspen is the MOST magical place! I truly could not imagine us having our wedding anywhere else.
A handful of guests stayed around late night requesting songs from the pianist and sharing memories about Carey and me. I couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect evening to kick off our wedding weekend. It was the perfect weekend from start to finish. Next post is about the rehearsal dinner so stay tuned!
