UNICEF Snowflake Ball 2017
Every year I get anxious to celebrate Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving where people encourage one another to give back. It is an important day because more money is raised for nonprofits than any other day of the year in the United States and it also is the day that we host the annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball at Cipriani in New York City.
The Snowflake Ball is one of New York’s hottest charity events and I am honored to be a NextGen Chair of the event. This year we raised nearly $4m for the world’s most vulnerable children! Harry Connick Jr. was the host of the evening and L’Oreal’s Carol Hamilton received the Spirit of Compassion Award (incredibly well-deserved!). Special Olympic Gold Medalist Lucy Meyer also received an award presented by Jake Gyllenhaal. Best of all Diana Ross performed and the crowd literally went wild! People got on chairs to sing along to hits “I’m Coming Out” and “Aint No Mountain High Enough”. Other guests included Anna Wintour, Aurora James and Governor Andrew Cuomo. It was an incredibly special evening!
I was honored to have Dennis Basso make me a one-of-a-kind dress for the event. The beading detail was the most stunning I have ever seen! A huge thank you to the Dennis Basso team for making this special gown for me. I was also grateful for my table crew which included Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What, Claudia Oshry of Girl with No Job, Arielle Charnas of Something Navy, Sarah Bray fashion editor at Town and Country, John Targon Fashion Designer Baja East, Lisle Richards and Eric Marx of The Metric and my amazing husband Carey of course. If you aren’t familiar with these blogs and brands definitely check them out – they are all run by amazing people who are really moving the needle.
We ended the night dancing until the early hours of the morning at the NextGen Snowflake Party which immediately followed the ball. It was truly the perfect night!
