I have always loved LA, but this past week was by and far the best LA trip I have ever had! I truly had my dream day in LA.
Although I am a true Texan New Yorker, I have always had a place in my heart for Lalaland. When I was growing up, my parents and I traveled to LA once a month and we always stayed at the Peninsula. This was my first time in years staying at the Peninsula in Beverly Hills and I was reminded of what a special place it really is! The rooftop pool is a dream and the afternoon tea transports me to another era in the best way possible. Try the Camembert or cucumber tea sandwiches plus a scone for a real afternoon delight!
After breakfast by the pool, a few meetings at Soho House and afternoon tea with friends, I went to the other side of town for a play-date with Johnson Hartig, the designer for the world-renowned fashion label Libertine. Libertine is my favorite brand without question. Johnson designs some of the wildest pieces, but all of his unique, playful fashion makes everyone turn and smile. I can’t express to you what a good time I had in Libertine’s showroom. I must have tried on 100 things! You can see in the photos how whimsical the showroom really is with monster statues, incense and Damien Hirst artwork (that Johnson acquired by trading his fashionable clothing with Damien Hirst himself!) I fell in love with everything and now am wanting to transform my own office and my closet!
As you can see from the photos, I tried on multiple outfits and had way too much fun with Johnson even helping him light a Starling candle with incense! He also insisted on shooting photos of me himself. Johnson is one of the most humble and honest fashion designers out there and his designs just happen to be some of the best in the world. Enjoy photos from our fantastic afternoon – hopefully the colorful world of Libertine will make you smile like it always does for me!
I ended my dream day in LA at the world premiere of Wonder Woman at the Pantages Theater where I wore Libertine, of course! The movie was absolutely amazing! You must go see it. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris Pine and Gal Gadot at the after-party and could not believe how sweet they were. We celebrated with champagne, glitter cake balls and ice cream. See, it really was the perfect day.
