What It’s Like to Live at a Hotel
I frequently get asked what it’s like to live at a hotel because, as of a few weeks ago, I have been living at The Standard High Line in New York. My fiance and I have been on a hectic search trying to find the perfect new home to buy in NYC, but we just haven’t had any luck quite yet, so in the meantime, we decided this was our opportunity to live in a hotel. I jumped at the opportunity because, since I was a child, I have been dreaming to be like Eloise at the Plaza. If for some reason you aren’t familiar, Eloise is a cartoon character who enjoyed luxurious living at The Plaza Hotel in New York. She seriously lived the dream! Who wouldn’t want to be the modern-day Eloise?
At first I was a bit nervous about the lack of space, especially the lack of closet space. However, I can honestly say it has been amazing, mostly because the Standard High Line staff is beyond accommodating and fantastic, but the trendy hotel and location aren’t so bad either. I spend a lot of time enjoying the views of the Hudson River from my bedroom and I probably order room service way too often, but you can catch me having meetings at the Standard Grill and enjoying an end of the day drink at the Standard Biergarten. Does anyone else think the Standard should consider having a Sterling at the Standard book? Then my dream to be Eloise would really be complete.
Enjoy these photos taken at my hotel home. : )
